How do I get Started in the Hobby?

Looking to get into the hobby or join our club ?

 

Here are a few steps to look into as you make a decision 
 

  1. Academy of Model Aeronautics https://www.modelaircraft.org/membership/membership-options (This is required to fly at an AMA sanctioned club field, which we are.)
  2. FAA Recreational UAS registration https://www.droneregistration.com/ (required if you are flying anything over .55 lb)
  3. The Recreational UAS Safety Test https://trust.modelaircraft.org/
  4. If this isn’t helping enough try here https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers. Don’t be overwhelmed it looks to be more than it actually is. We can have someone guide you if you would like. Contact: NorthEast RC Club . We exist to promote our hobby so have no fear we will welcome you to get involved.

Cost wise the AMA is: Age 19-64 - $85, 65 & over - $75, Under 19 (as of July 1st) - $15, FAA fee is $5, TRUST is free, we are at $100 regular member and $25 for Junior member.

A starter plane with electronics starts around $250. 
We have trainer style aircraft available that you could try for free, just contact: NorthEast RC Club to inquire and schedule.
